Cycle Horizons has 3 methods by which individuals can be accredited for their efforts and acheivements

1) Cycle Horizons - (Internal)  'Fire Trail award'

Pupils Complete a basic overview of the Topics related to Off Road Cycling involving engaging games, trail rides and suitable topics to a beginner level.

2) MIAS GEARS - Levels 1 to 3

(1st Gear / 2nd Gear / 3rd Gear)
Each module focuses on:

  • Brakes
  • Gear changing
  • Cornering
  • Alternating speed
  • Lifting front wheel
  • (Third gear - bunny hops)
  • Distance
  • Bike anatomy
  • Tools
  • Repairs

All three modules have been designed for young people with physical / learning / behavioural / emotional difficulties, but do not exclude young people in mainstream, higher or further education.

The M.I.A.S. scheme is accredited by the following organisations:

  • ABCC A ssociation of B ritish Cycle Coaches
  • CTC Cyclists Touring Club
  • NCF National Cycling Federation
  • ABC Awarding Body Consortium

3)   GCSE Level Mountain Biking modules

We prepare collate and record data for all major exam boards for pupils wishing to do their PE GCSE in Mountain Biking. Mountain Biking GCSE units vary in format between exam boards, in terms of delivery, content and acheivement recording so we work closely to the syllabus and with schools / teachers to ensure planned sessions meet the criteria and specifications the exam board requires.
