MIAS GEARS Course L1 - 3 (Ages 8 – 16)
A 3 tiered award, Levels geared towards attainability by participants, length of course and content adjusted to suit. This course links with other cycle projects (such as Bikeability) and can be used in conjunction with cycle awareness to enhance the quality of training and improve students own personal bike handling ability as well as essential road skills.
Topics:
Brakes/Gear changing/Cornering/Alternating Speed/ Lifting Front Wheel/ (3rd Gear – Bunny hops) / Distance riding/ Bike Anatomy / Tools / Repairs
MIAS Mountain Bike Instructor Award L1/2 (AALA/ABC accredited)
For Academic Staff and Pupils (18+)
This is an internationally recognised 2 day Instructor course:
Level 1 Outline (Day 2 is held in nearby Surrey Hills)
For instructors to lead groups off road on way marked tracks below 600 meters and within close proximity of aid. Typically; cycle tracks, forestry, parks, canal tow paths.
Candidate requirements: Previous mountain bike experience.
MIAS Mountain Bike Instructor Youth Award
Level 1 (Ages 15 - 18)
This is an internationally recognised 2 day Instructor course:
Level 1 Outline (Day 2 held in nearby Surrey Hills)

Candidate requirements: Previous mountain bike experience.
MIAS Cycle FIT Maintenance Award - Levels 1-3 (Ages 9+)
This is a nationally recognised NVQ standard course covering:
Mountain bike anatomy/ Cycle Mechanic Tools/ Puncture Repair/ Chain care & repair/ Adjusting gears & brakes/ Bike cleaning & lubrication/ Replacing gear & brake cables/ Adjusting/replacing brake blocks & disc pads/ (Level 3 Award covers - Headset removal/ replacement, Bottom Bracket Removal & replacement, Wheel truing.
*Candidates that meet the requirement will receive both a Cycle FIT Maintenance Course Logbook to record their ongoing achievements as well as receive a Cycle FIT Maintenance Course certificate to the appropriate level.
Nature Trail cycle events for schools
Based in a range of areas including Richmond Park. We’re working at devolping a range of cycle / walk nature trail activities (basic to advanced) for schools
GCSE (AQA/EdExcel) PE programmes
Includes video / written course work in mountain bike skills
Duke of Edinburgh Awards mountain biking Skills / Leadership modules.
(Can be run in conjunction with Outdoor Leadership BTEC Courses)
